The Fruitdale School was originally designed by noted Denver architect Temple Buell in 1927 and is his oldest remaining school building. It served the City of Wheat Ridge and Jefferson County as an elementary school and community center until it was closed in 2007. This National Register historic property remained vacant until its recent remodel! The re-use of this landmark building has created a unique, solar powered, affordable residential community full of historic and modern style.
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home was the original caretaker's cottage, and also served as the school library. It is available for move in now! Rent is $1895 with utilities being $100 a month covering water, sewer, and trash. All other utilities are electric, which is provided by the solar panels on-site and billed by usage. To qualify with us here at RIO you must make twice the amount of rent per month, have good established credit (min 2 open lines of credit in good standings), no collections, no Rental Debt, no Evictions, and have a clean background check. We do not approve applicants by credit score. All applications are put into a specific algorithm that take all qualifications into account.
